The Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) is an independent statutory office established by the Fair Work Act 2009. Our role is to promote harmonious, productive and cooperative workplace relations and ensure compliance with Australian workplace laws.
The Compliance & Enforcement and Proactive Compliance & Education branches are primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009. This is done through resolving disputes in a timely manner, equipping parties with skills to self-resolve and monitor, conducting audits and inquiring into and investigating serious non-compliance, particularly those matters involving vulnerable young and overseas workers. We are seeking exceptional team-oriented candidates for Fair Work Inspector roles in our Compliance and Campaigns teams based in any FWO capital city as well as our offices in Wagga Wagga, Bunbury and Launceston.
To be successful in these roles you will possess or have the ability to acquire:
- strong communication and negotiation skills
- sound interviewing and inquiry skills
- strong analytical skills and problem solving capability
- a sound knowledge of, and genuine interest in, the Australian workplace relations system and relevant legislation
- the ability to manage and organise work in the context of competing priorities in an ever evolving environment
- the ability to work in and contribute to a national team
- superior customer service skills, engaging and assisting customers in a positive manner
- the ability to contribute to the development and design of innovative solutions for continuous improvement at an organisational and personal level
- experience in working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds and interpreters
- the ability to speak a second language (desirable but not essential)
- Tertiary qualifications in business/law or social sciences (desirable but not essential).
